Natalie Roche reveals her Business Resolutions for 2015

Natalie Roche, Beauty Expert, Founder and Managing Director of Natalie Roche Ltd, reveals Her Business Resolutions for 2015.

There is something so refreshing about the start of a new year, it’s a time for new beginnings, clearing out, simplifying and getting excited for the next 12 months. Everybody makes (and breaks!) New Years resolutions, but why not extend these to your business and use them to really focus the first quarter of 2015.
1. Re-vamp Your Website
With so many bloggers and beauty experts posting online week in, week out, extolling the virtues of the latest must-have products and treatments they’ve found and experienced, whilst many potential customers are watching and searching online for local spas and salons which offer what have just seen. As customers we now expect every business to have a web presence, so having outdated service and offer information, hard to find price lists and telephone numbers, and no customer testimonials are just some of the things which should be updated and reviewed. Don’t forget, it’s so easy to flick between businesses websites and choose which one to visit based not only on the treatments offered, but also on the first impression of the site which greets us (we’ve all done it!) so don’t lose out on money in your till! If you have a great new treatment or product which you know is getting talked about online or in magazines, then shout about it on your homepage and social media, make it really easy for customers to find what they’re looking for!
2. Spring Clean
Who doesn’t love a good spring clean? It could be an actual spring clean where you spend a day going through your stockroom, the kitchen cupboards, behind waiting area couches, wiping down shelves and clearing out the treatment room drawers. Get rid of anything which is looking old or past it’s best, check dates on products and make it simple and easy for staff to find what they need.
Or you could spring clean your retail offering. Make sure all of your retail stock is being rotated through in order, you don’t have any forgotten products or brands lurking around, and if you do find anything which isn’t selling well, speak to your team about customer feedback, try moving its location so customers see it anew, and if necessary discount it to sell-through and make space for something different.
Something which may seem a small thing, but makes a big different to clients who are in for a long treatment… spring cleaning your magazines! There is nothing worse than being handed a 6 month old celeb gossip magazine to read, so make sure yours are chucked out and updated as often as possible. Why not save time and sign up to a monthly delivered subscription? It’s usually a bit cheaper too!
3. Plan Your Year
It’s so easy to get wrapped up in what’s happening right now, that you forget to plan ahead and think about how to bring a steady stream of customers coming in over the whole year to try a variety of your services. Why not use a big wall planner and mark on events which may traditionally bring customers in for a bit of TLC, pampering, or gift buying, Some of the ones I like to aim for each year are:
Valentine’s Day
Mother’s Day
Ladies Day at the Races
Wedding Season
Fathers Day (let’s not forget the men!)
Summer Holiday Prep
Christmas Party Prep
Christmas Gift Buying
Think about which bespoke treatment or product packages you could put together to pull customers in for each occasion, couples facials and massages for Valentine’s Day, tanning and hair for Ladies Day at the Races or waxing and buying mini product sets for Summer Holiday Prep. Advertise wherever you can, use your windows, website, social media (you could even hold a competition to encourage your promotion to be shared), local press (they may do this for free if return for the donation of a prize for any competition they have upcoming, which equals double the publicity!), and make the most of your businesses best, most enthusiastic ambassadors, your staff! Make sure your staff know what’s coming up so they can talk to customers when the call up or come in.
Good Luck for 2015!
